Favorite things from my recent Bohol vacation:

1) Momo Beach House is for vacationers who want to be away from the mad crowd. Don't worry, you can arrange for airport transfers and there's a free daily shuttle to the more popular Alona Beach.

If your idea of a vacation is to sit on a terrace drinking coffee or wine, this is the place for you. You can make arrangements for the usual tourist tours and dives but really, you can just stay here and relax.

Lots of open spaces for reading, sleeping, and eating. Oh and drinking.

Food at Momo Beach House is also great.

2) Bohol Bee Farm is must-go. Yes, you have to deal with a LOT of tourists and locals. But the food is yummy and if you like organic stuff, be ready to shop. This vintage looking glass dining area is perched on the cliff facing the sea. How quaint.

The butter-pesto-honey spread was so good that I actually bought a jar as pasalubong.

Bohol Bee Farm's pizza (one of the many kinds)

...and the salad that made the farm famous. Yes, eat the flowers!

I don't know if this is a Bohol thing but the hot chocolate drink in Bohol is yummy! Referred to as sikwate.

I love avocado and when it's in ice cream, well....heaven.

3. I've been to Bohol a few times but it was only on this trip that I noticed how fiery Bohol sunsets are. Thanks to my friend, R, for point this out.

4. Clarin Ancestral House: home of the first senator of the 11th Senatorial District (then componsed of Bohol, Misamis, and Surigao). Jose Aniceto Butalid Clarin. It's sadly not as well-maintained as we would want it to be but if you have time, do check it out.

I've always called this his wooden stirring tool for tsokolate as batirol. Others call it the molinillo. Read an informative article here.

5. Bohol at night. Calm. Quiet. A wonderful opportunity to bond with friends. Or in our case, an opportunity to catch up on much needed sleep.
